This is Big news for college students The benefits of second, fourth and sixth semesters of merit base progress for non-medical / paramedical non-postgraduate students will be assessed 50% internally and 50% of the previous semester.

Due to the global epidemic of Covid-19, for giving merit based progress to intermediate semester students for all undergraduate courses in universities / colleges, Gujarat Government Education Department Circular No.  :

The State Government has also issued guidelines from time to time in view of the periodical instructions / guidelines of the Government of India to prevent the transition of covid-19 in the colleges and universities of the State.

Finally, from the parallel circular dated 17/06/2021 of this department, instructions / guidelines were issued for postponing the examination for all the prescribed undergraduate courses except medical / para medical.  Which has been extended from the parallel circular dated 18/06/2050 to 30/06/2021.

Merit based Progression is given to students who have Intermediate Semester-2, 3 and where Semester-2 is Intermediate for all courses except Bachelor level Medical / Para Medical in State Universities / Colleges in view of public health interests in view of the widespread covid-19 transition situation.  For calculation of marks, 50% marks will have to be given on the basis of internal assessment and the remaining 50% marks will have to be given immediately on the basis of previous semester.  E.g.

In case the student has got 90 marks out of 50 marks of internal assessment in the university and immediately the student has got 90 marks out of 100 marks in the university examination of the previous semester, the marks will have to be calculated as under.

Calculation of 50% of total marks in internal assessment Marks 20 Marks obtained from internal assessment 20 e.g.  20 marks Total marks of internal assessment = 30 x 20 = 2.2 marks 30 Immediately previous (previous) total semester marks 50% marks Calculation of marks uo Total marks out of 100 total marks of previous semester i.e. e.g.

50 marks 50% of 90 marks = 36 marks obtained  33.33 +3 = 2.33 marks = 3 marks (counting in integers) If practical examinations are not taken by the college / university, its marks will also have to be calculated as shown above.  If a practical test is taken then the actual marks obtained in that test should be taken into consideration.

Given the recent situation caused by the epidemic of coVID-19, this arrangement is sufficient only for the current academic year 2020-21.  By order of the Governor of Gujarat and in his name
