In which three languages and subjects like Mathematics, Science and Social Science are compulsory. The seventh has optional subjects as the subject. Even students who do not want to go into science stream after Std-10 cannot pursue further studies due to failing in Mathematics in Std-10. Such students should have the opportunity to study further.
The National Education Policy-2020 provides for giving two options in the assessment of students in subjects like Mathematics.
To give the option of two types of question papers in mathematics subject in the public examination of Std. 10 conducted by Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board to the students studying in Std. 10 in the schools recognized by Gujarat Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education. The proposal was made by letter dated 07/10/2018.
The matter was under active consideration of the Government. Resolution: At the end of adult consideration, in the schools recognized by Gujarat Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, in the public examination of Std. 4. 1.
The textbook of standard 10 mathematics subject will remain the same. There will be no change in the educational system in this regard at school level or classroom level. .
In the public examination of Std. 10 conducted by Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board, two different types of question papers will be given, Mathematics Standard and Mathematics Basic.
The student has to choose that option while filling up the board exam form. 3. This type of option will have to be given only while filling the standard 10 board exam form, which will be the last option.
This type of option will not be given in Mathematics subject in Std. . The question paper format of Mathematics Standard and Mathematics Basic will be different. In both the models, the merit will be kept separately according to the chapter wise, the merit according to the chime of the questions as well as the purpose.
The student who will keep the mathematics standard in Std-10 will be able to get admission in Science stream or general stream in Std-11. .
A student who has mathematics basic in standard 10 will not be able to get admission in science stream in standard 11. .
If a student who has passed in Mathematics Basic in Std-10 wants to go in Std-12 Science stream, he will be able to get admission in Std-11 Science stream by passing Mathematics Standard examination during the supplementary examination in the month of July.
Students who fail in Mathematics Standard in Std-10 will be able to appear in the supplementary examination by giving re-Maths Standard or Mathematics Basic option subject to the rules of supplementary examination.
2. The school level principal as well as the teachers have to give full understanding to the students and parents about this and also have to get the written consent of the student and parents about the option chosen by the student. .
